Originally published as a Petaluma Police Department press release –
“On 04/09/21, at approximately 9:47pm, the Petaluma Police Department received a report of a suspicious person and vehicle in the area of Denman Road. A local resident called to report a suspicious male, associated with a vehicle was in the area where recent acts of vandalism had taken place.
After walking around the neighborhood, with no apparent legitimate business, the male got into a second vehicle and left. A short time later the vehicle returned to the same area in the neighborhood. Officers were then dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, Officers contacted Andres Marquez. A record check confirmed Marquez was on felony probation for possession of a controlled substance for sale. In addition, Marquez had five warrants out for his arrest including a felony warrant out of Marin County. The record check also confirmed Marquez was a convicted felon.
During a search of Marquez’ person and vehicle multiple types and amounts of drugs were located, including suspected Fentanyl. Two guns were found in the vehicle.
Neither gun, commonly referred to as ‘ghost guns’ had a serial number affixed to it, required by law. Additional evidence was obtained indicating Marquez was in possession of the drugs with the intent to sell/distribute them. In addition to his warrants, Marquez was arrested and booked for the following charges:
29800 PC Felon in possession of a firearm
25400 PC Possession of a concealed weapon in a vehicle
11351 HS Possession of controlled substance for sale
11358 HS Possession of controlled substance for sale
