Today at 8:50 am, officers responded to the 700 block of N. Branciforte Avenue regarding a man holding a knife, yelling, and charging passing vehicles. Officers immediately arrived and recognized the man as 39-year-old Jeremy Lee, who had an outstanding felony parole warrant for his arrest.
Mr. Lee fled the area on foot as officers arrived. SCPD Officers quickly caught up with him running in the 500 block of Water Street. Mr. Lee stood his ground holding a knife and refusing to comply with officers.
At one point, Mr. Lee used an innocent bystander as a shield between him and the officers. Officers utilized less lethal options and deployed a Taser which effectively disarmed Mr. Lee. Officers took him into custody without anyone getting hurt. SCPD arrested Jeremy Lee and booked him into the Santa Cruz County Jail for the warrant, kidnapping, brandishing, and other misdemeanor charges.
Great work by all SCPD Officers involved!
