Update to Family Tragedy – Deadly Domestic Dispute Incident’s Homicide Investigation
POMONA – A recent update to what was originally a family’s tragic domestic incident became clear when Pomona PD Investigators released the details about what took place at 10 AM on April 10th.
Losing a family member could rock a family to its core, but in this case, it’s much more head-spinningly grievous. As Pomona Police Department Officers made an immediate response to the “victim of a shooting” call on the 800 block of West Orange Grove Avenue, they found the victim “down.”
Emergency assistance from the Los Angeles County Fire Department provided on-scene treatment to the female victim, but she did not survive her injuries. At this point, Pomona PD’s Major Crimes Unit Homicide Investigators stepped in to launch a thorough search for every detail.
The results of their probe was recently revealed as an Update to the ongoing investigation. “The investigation revealed that the incident started as a domestic dispute between the victim and suspect,” said Sergeant Edgard Padilla. “It is alleged that during the dispute, the suspect obtained a handgun.”
While this incident took place in the presence of their two children, “a struggle ensued over the handgun,” added Sgt. Padilla, “and the victim was shot.”
As the horrific facts emerged, a homicide arrest for Pomona resident Joseph Pinedo (30) took place shortly thereafter. A thorough review of the extensive investigation prompted the Los Angeles County DA’s Office to file murder and child endangerment charges against the suspect in custody.
The children remain in protective custody. Their names, and the name of their deceased mother have been withheld for privacy.
