“39-year-old Luis Cifuentes was arrested on Monday in Madera by Tuolumne County Detectives for the earlier reported murder of 29-year-old Cayetano Duarte-Perez in La Grange on April 3.
After only one week of investigation, Detectives quickly identified Cifuentes as the suspect in the case. Detectives were able to obtain a warrant for Cifuentes’s arrest, and search warrant for both his home and vehicle.
A “Be on the Lookout” was sent to Cifuentes’s last know hometown in Madera County, and surrounding counties. CHP officers in Madera County located Cifuentes and detained him on a traffic stop. Detectives responded to Madera County, ultimately booking Cifuentes in Madera County after Cifuentes refused extradition into Tuolumne County.
We are proud of the dedication and quick work of our investigations division in their ability to bring some resolution to the Duarte-Perez family in a timely manner. Our condolences go out to Duarte-Perez’s family and friends for their tragic loss.”
