April 18, 2021 – Santa Barbara, Ca.
Knowing that domestic violence calls can be among the most dangerous for everyone involved, tensions were undoubtedly high just before the midnight hour on April 12 th when Santa Barbara Police Department officers responded to a 911 Emergency call reporting what SBPD Public Information Officer Ethan Ragsdale described as “a battery in progress.”
Upon arrival at the South Salinas Street address, the cops found “a female victim severely beaten and laying on the sidewalk.” She was promptly evacuated from the scene and transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of “significant injuries.”
The immediately ensuing investigation in which neighborhood security cameras were accessed, indicated that the victim “was struck multiple times and lost consciousness” just as local area residents “intervened” to prevent the attacker from inflicting further injury to the victim. With the help of witness statements and the video evidence on hand, officers identified 19-year-old Santa Barbara resident Crystal Alaina Ramos as the attacker.
Officers learned that Ramos and the victim are related, and that the fight was “the result of a family dispute.” Ramos was apprehended a short time later and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where she was booked on charges of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and battery causing great bodily injury, with her bail set at $50,000.
