A call came in to Fresno Police on April 21 at 7:40 p.m. about a disturbance at an apartment in the 300 block of W. Nees Avenue. A gun was reportedly involved in the incident.
The initial reports stated that two black males were involved in an argument and one of them brandishing a gun.
A Skywatch helicopter assisted in spotting the vehicle of one of the individuals driving in the parking lot.
Patrol vehicles on the ground stopped the vehicle, being driven by former Fresno Police Officer Raymond Eddy, and detained him.
The man Eddy was in a “disturbance” with was also a former Fresno Police officer and former Fresno City Councilman Oliver Baines.
Apparently there was a failed business venture between them. The ensuing argument saw Eddy pull out a gun, place it on Baines’ neck and threaten to kill him.
Then Eddy punched Baines’ in the face as the victim was in his vehicle.
A cell phone video shot by a by-stander helped to validate the charges that followed.
Eddy was arrested for DUI, assault, threats and brandishing a firearm.
