There appear to be manifold job opportunities for those interested in the illegal drug trafficking industry as a career choice.
Those with an interest in agriculture can work in the growing and harvesting of raw goods; anyone with a science or technical skill can become involved in processing and chemical formulation; others with marketing and sales affinity can flourish in the wholesale distribution arena, and those with limited skills can find a gig just transporting and delivering finished product to retail vendors and to individual consumers.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Odilon Malagon, 25-year-old Inglewood, Ca. resident Vincente Lopez and 21-year-old Oxnard resident Jackelyne Espinosa appear to fall into the latter category: delivery drivers.
While Lopez may have had an excellent driving record, he nonetheless came to the attention of law enforcement when detectives attached to the VCSD Narcotics Street Team came to suspect he was actively “transporting and distributing bulk quantities of methamphetamine and heroin to drug dealers” throughout Ventura County.
By April 30th , the cops learned that Lopez was “coordinating” deliveries as part of a distribution supply-chain of illicit drugs. With a search warrant in hand, detectives located Lopez driving his usual route and conducted a traffic stop of his vehicle with Lopez behind the wheel and Espinosa riding along as his passenger. While detectives were making this contact, another team of detectives were conducting a warrant search of Lopez’ residence.
Both searches lead to the seizure of “approximately four pounds of methamphetamine, two pounds of heroin, 350 fentanyl pills, one ounce of cocaine, and several thousand dollars of suspected drug proceeds.”
With that evidence in hand, Lopez and Espinosa were taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where they were booked on a plethora of narcotics charges with their bail set at $50,000 each.
