Redding Police: Man found passed out in vehicle with drugs, cash

“On Sunday, April 25th, 2021 at 2:44 A.M., Redding Police officers contacted a subject passed out in a vehicle at the gas pumps of the 76 Station, located at 1275 Churn Creek Rd.

Officers woke the sleeping occupant later identified as 25 year old Abel Saldana, of Garden Grove, Ca. A large amount of cash was observed concealed within a Doritos bag on the passenger seat of the vehicle. Officers deployed K-9 Chase, who is trained to locate suspected narcotics, to assist in searching the vehicle.

During the search, officers located over 20 grams of suspected Methamphetamine and Heroin in various quantities, over $3000 in cash and a loaded handgun previously reported stolen out of Grants Pass, Oregon.

Saldana, a convicted felon, was booked into Shasta County Jail on multiple charges related to the sales and transportation of drugs, as well as weapons violations.”
