Police: Gun, cash, and a whole lot of weed found during traffic stop in Bakersfield

“On May 5, 2021, at about 7:36 PM, officers attempted a vehicle code violation stop on a vehicle in the 2300 block of Brundage Lane.
The driver, Kerry Edwards (26) of Bakersfield exited his vehicle and fled from officers on foot. While fleeing from officers, Edwards was pursued across all lanes of travel of Highway 58, before surrendering and being taken into custody with no incident.
A loaded firearm, marijuana, cocaine and oxycodone was located in Edwards’ vehicle. Edwards is a prior convicted felon and was arrested for charges associated with felon in possession of a firearm, possession of controlled substance for sales, fleeing from police and being armed while in possession of narcotics.
The firearm was unregistered.
