“This morning around 2:00am, a resident called MPD Dispatch to report suspicious activity. The caller’s dogs had alerted him to two people walking around his property. #gooddogs #whoseagoodboy When the caller went out to investigate, the two subjects hopped in their truck and took off. #definitelysuspicious The caller was able to give a description of the truck and it’s last direction of travel to the dispatcher who then told the responding officers. #greatjobcaller
Officer Campbell was in the area looking for the truck when one that matched the description turned right in front of him. #heckofacoincidence #whataretheodds When Officer Campbell ran a records check on the license plate it came back stolen out of Perris. #what #noway
When Officer Campbell initiated a traffic stop (because of the suspicious activity and the fact the truck was stolen) the driver of the truck decided that he didn’t want to participate and drove away. #shocker The driver obviously wasn’t too familiar with the area because he got himself into a series of dead end and closed streets which ended the short pursuit before anyone got hurt. #verylucky
Officers contacted the driver Joseph Lopez and his passenger Shea Powell. A records check revealed that Joseph was on #PRCS for vehicle theft and had an outstanding felony warrant for violating his parole.
#youdontsay #thisismyshockedface Joseph was arrested for his warrant, failure to yield, possession of a stolen vehicle and vandalism. Shea was arrested for possession of burglary tools and they were both booked into #theByrdHouse without incident.”
