Report: Suspect arrested after leading Riverside Police on pursuit

“RIVERSIDE, CA – On Sunday, May 16, 2021 at approximately 6:38 p.m., two Riverside Police Officers assigned to the Field Operations Division attempted to stop a silver sedan in the area of Main Street and Russell Avenue in Riverside. The vehicle failed to yield and led the officers on a pursuit through city streets. As it sped through the 4300 block of Houghton Avenue, the vehicle pulled up a steep driveway to a house and the suspect driver got out and ran inside. The car then traveled backwards down the driveway towards the officers, at which time an officer involved shooting occurred. The car struck the police vehicle then came to rest in the front yard of a house at the corner of Cedar Street and Houghton Avenue.
The house the suspect ran into was surrounded and the occupants eventually came out, including the suspect driver. It was determined he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. No officers or bystanders were injured, nor was the suspect.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Force Investigations Detail responded to the scene and assumed this investigation. They are being assisted by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations, Riverside Police Department’s Robbery – Homicide Unit, and Specialists from the Forensics Unit.
Jeremy Blue Martinez, 31-years-old from Riverside, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, evading police, obstructing police, and the outstanding felony warrant for violation of Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). He is currently being held without bail.

This officer involved shooting investigation is still ongoing and there are no further details to release at this time.
