OAKLAND — Two men face a lengthy list of charges for allegedly murdering a man who lived in an RV, leaving behind an orphan son. The suspects were taken into custody earlier this month by Oakland police.
The victim Paul Schrager was fatally shot to death near his RV on May 7. Schrager wounded one of the four gunman who burst into his RV home. He caught them trying to rob his RV as he arrived home at 4:30 a.m.
A shootout erupted leading to the victim’s death and sending one wounded suspect to the hospital. The victim’s girlfriend who was inside the RV was the victim of sexual battery by restraint.
When police arrived, they found Schrager lying in the street, about one block away from where he kept his RV parked.
Staff at Kaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center notified police that a man suffering from a gunshot wound checked in. This man turned out to be one of the four suspects associated with the shootout with Schrager.
John R. Harrison, 33 of Oakland, was arrested inside the hospital on May 11. Harrison was booked into Santa Rita Jail, where he remains in custody. Bond for his release has been denied.
Harrison is charged with murder, home invasion robbery, first-degree burglary, and numerous firearms-related charges.
An alleged accomplice 40-year-old Guillermo A. Lacoyo, Jr. was arrested the same day in Oakland. Lacoyo also remains in custody at the county jail with bond for his release denied.
Lacoyo is charged with murder, robbery, burglary, sexual battery by restraint, and numerous firearms-related charges.
