CULVER CITY – An adorable blue French Bulldog puppy – a hot commodity these days (ask Lady Gaga) – was wrangled at gunpoint on the evening of May 12th. The 10-month-old pup was taken by a suspect armed with a semiautomatic handgun.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the 6000 block of Canterbury Drive on foot. An immediate investigation, launched by Culver City Police Department Detectives, quickly ID’d a suspect.
Three days later, around noon, Culver City PD Detectives in the Fox Hills area of Culver City spotted the anonymous suspect leaving a residence – while holding a gray French Bulldog. The pair entered a nearby vehicle and drove off.
An attempt to stop the getaway vehicle resulted in a short pursuit – ending with a collision into a vehicle near Slauson Avenue and Bristol Parkway. The suspect fled on foot.
A perimeter search engaged a Culver City Drone Team along with other resources. Nearly three hours later, the suspect was located and arrested for PC 211 – Armed Robbery.
The shocked puppy was located and reunited with its owner. The driver of the vehicle crash, miraculously, was not injured.
Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office will be presented the case for criminal filing consideration.
