CHP Arrests Man Impersonating a Police Officer, with a Child On Board
FRENCH VALLEY – When a woman driver was pulled over for a traffic stop on June 7th near 1:00 PM, she came to an odd realization. The male who was driving a Ford F-150, illegally-equipped with red and blue lights in the grille, and who’d used a siren to impersonate a police officer, also had a child in the truck.
Realizing that the man was not a police officer, she utilized her dash-cam, and captured the entire ocurrence. She left the scene in the incorporated area of French Valley, notified California Highway Patrol (CHP), and immediately turned over the footage.
The dash-cam provided key information which enabled CHP to ID the suspect, the Ford F-150, and his residence. At a June 9th search visit near 9:30 AM, CHP made contact with the suspect.
Executed search warrants of the residence and the vehicle produced the following: ” The vehicle was found to be equipped with red and blue lights in the grille, red and blue lights in the rear window and a siren,” said CHP. “Other items seized were two handguns, an additional light-bar, a total of four badges (marked security) and a gun belt.”
The suspect was arrested for impersonating a law-enforcement officer. In addition, due to inherent dangers of police work, and traffic stops – all done with a child in the vehicle – additional child-endangerment charges were applied.
CHP urges anyone who believes that they may have been stopped in the French Valley area of the unincorporated area of Riverside County by someone driving a white Ford F-150 with red, white, and blue lights in the grille, to please call Officer Fenton at the Temecula Area, CHP Office at (951) 506-2000.
