Two people were arrested in connection to a hit-and-run collision in which it was later discovered alcohol had been involved, according to Monterey police.
On the evening of June 6, officers responded to the site of a three-vehicle collision in which minor injuries had been sustained.
Officers identified the driver who’d caused the collision as 18-year-old Marcelo Munoz Sixto, who’d fled the scene along with his passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Fidencio Lopez-Daniel, prior to officers’ arrival. Both suspects were later located in the area of Pearl and Cortes.
Sixto then underwent a sobriety test that showed his blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit. He was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run. Lopez-Daniel was also arrested, on suspicion of public intoxication.
After being medically cleared, both were booked at the Monterey County Jail. Lopez-Daniel was later released on a citation, while Sixto remains in custody on $35,000 bail.
