PORTOLA – Early on the morning of June 18 a call came in about a structure fire on North Fourth Street. The Fire Departments of Beckwwourth and Eastern Plumas were dispatched.
The residence was reported via multip,e 911 calls to be fully engulfed. Highway 70 wa shsut down and the surrounding area was evacuated.
Three structures were destroyed, as well as surrounding vegetation and trees.
29-year-old Eric Armstrong was arrested and booked on a felony charge of unlawfully causing a fire that causes an inhabited structure to burn.
