Modesto man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and domestic violence

“Sunday evening, July 4, 2021, MPD located and arrested 38-year-old Walter Fernando Zuniga Lara, of Modesto.
Lara was wanted for stabbing his son’s mother while in the parking lot of Motel 6 on July 3, 2021.
After the violent attack, Lara went to a different location, took his 11-year-old son and disappeared. An Amber Alert was then issued.
On Sunday afternoon, Lara’s son was located, safe and unharmed.
Lara was located in the 1700 block of Olympia Avenue and taken into custody without incident. Lara was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail and charged with attempted homicide and domestic violence.
The victim in this investigation remains in serious, but stable condition.
We want to thank members of the community who assisted in the safe recovery of Adler Lara and helped lead to the arrest of Walter Lara.”
