“Mario Lopez was booked at Yolo County Jail for Murder, Hit and Run Resulting in Death, DUI with an enhancement, and Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License.
We received a report that a male was shoved from a vehicle and had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound at 8:52 a.m. Patrol officers and our investigations bureau went to Pioneer Ave and Tide Ct to further investigate the information being provided by the 9-1-1 caller. This investigation determined that a hit and run traffic collision had occurred. The 61-year-old Woodland resident was in fact not shot but killed during a hit and run traffic collision.
An observant citizen called in a suspicious vehicle in the 1600 block of Gillette Dr. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the driver and passenger. As Officers investigated, they determined this was the correct vehicle involved in the hit and run. The 19-year-old driver, Mario Lopez from Woodland, was arrested. The charges are continuing to be determined.”
