Kern County Sheriff’s Office issues press release on recent stolen vehicle, weapon, drug arrests

“On July 17, 2021, Metro Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the Motel 6 on Olive Tree Ct. in Bakersfield for an abandoned stolen vehicle in the parking lot.

Deputies located an additional abandoned stolen vehicle when they arrived on scene. Deputies conducted an investigation and identified suspects involved with the initial stolen vehicle. Deputies detained two male subjects and conducted a probation search at one of the motel rooms.

Deputies located an AR style rifle, a handgun with suppressor, 4 high capacity magazines, a 50 round drum magazine, 200 rounds of ammunition, 1.8 grams of heroin, 11.9 grams of methamphetamine, 4.6 grams of cocaine, 222 grams of suspected fentanyl, over 100 Xanax pills, indicia of drug sales, and currency (pictured).

Two adult males were booked on numerous felony charges related to narcotics and firearms possession, as well as being in possession of stolen property.

On July 18, at about 6:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Water Street for an infant not breathing. When they arrived, deputies located an infant unresponsive and not breathing. The infant was taken to an area hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. On July 18, at 5:17 p.m., deputies responded to the 11800 block of S. Comanche Drive for an adult female, armed with a hatchet, causing a disturbance.

Upon arrival, the female brandished the hatchet at deputies. The female refused to comply with deputies’ commands and she went into a nearby field.

Deputies located the female and talked her into surrendering. The female disarmed herself and deputies took her into custody. The suspect was booked for brandishing a weapon at a peace officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.
