RIVERSIDE, CA – The Riverside Police Department’s Sexual Assault – Child Abuse (SACA) Unit began an investigation into a past sexual abuse that was recently reported. At the time when the alleged acts occurred between the years of 2010 and 2015, the female victim was under the age of 10. She identified her abuser as a youth group leader at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, located in the Eastside neighborhood of Riverside.
SACA Detectives learned the victim knew the suspect from the church she attended. The suspect, 65-year-old Jaime Alejandre Gonzalez of Riverside, had driven her around the city several years ago when he committed the sexual abuse against her. On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, detectives arrested Mr. Gonzalez and booked him into the Robert Presley Detention Center on five counts of lewd and lascivious acts against a child under the age of 14. He is currently being held on $150,000 bail.
It is believed there may be additional victims who were abused by Mr. Gonzalez who have yet to come forward. Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation and arrest is urged to contact SACA Detective Stacie Ontko at (951) 353-7121 or SOntko@RiversideCA.gov.
