“On July 25, 2021 at approximately 12:15 p.m., SHASCOM received several reports of a traffic collision involving four vehicles on S. Bonnyview Road just east of E. Bonneyview Road. While officers were responding to the scene, citizens reported the occupants of the at fault vehicle were fleeing the area on foot. Officers arrived in the area and located the driver of the at fault vehicle, Angelica Gilchrist, 26 years of Anderson, and her passenger walking away from the collision in a nearby field.
Based on initial statements from the involved parties, Gilchrist was driving a white Ford Mustang west on S. Bonnyview Road in the number one lane. As Gilchrist neared the intersection of S. Bonnyview Road and E. Bonnyview Road, she failed to recognize the three vehicles stopped for the red light directly in front of her. Gilchrist’s inattention caused the Ford Mustang to collide with a Ford Fusion resulting in a chain reaction. The Ford Fusion then collided with a Ford Edge, which caused the Ford Edge to collide with a Ford F-150.
The driver of the Ford Fusion sustained major injuries and the drivers of the Ford Edge and Ford F-150 reported complaints of pain. Additionally, both Gilchrist and her passenger sustained moderate injuries. The Ford Mustang and Ford Fusion sustained major damage, while the Ford Edge and Ford F-150 sustained minor damage. Neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor.
After receiving medical treatment, Gilchrist was arrested for felony hit and run and booked into the Shasta County Jail. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department at 530-225-4200.”
