Traffic Stop Turns Up a Probationer in Possession of a Firearm, Controlled Substance
WALNUT CREEK — A traffic stop turned up an illegal firearm, which landed a 56-year-old probationer back behind bars. The driver was observed running a stop sign before entering the parking lot of a public swimming pool.
This traffic violation occurred near the intersection of Buena Vista and First avenues. Before the officer could turn on his lights, the vehicle immediately turned into the Larkey Park Swim Center.
The officer followed the car into the parking lot and contacted the driver for the stop sign violation. However, the officer was suspicious of more serious criminal behavior.
A probationary search was conducted after the driver’s identification was checked. The officer quickly located a firearm inside the vehicle. This man was also found in possession of a suspected controlled substance.
The driver identified as Dmitry Golosov of Concord was handcuffed and arrested August 10 at 2:50 p.m. Golosov was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. He remains in custody in lieu of $92,500 bond.
Golosov was booked on three charges –
Possession of a controlled substance while armed
Felon in possession of a firearm
Probation violation re-arrest/revoke
This is not Golosov’s first contact with law enforcement. In August 2013, he was arrested on three drug-related charges. In January 2012, he was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
