“On August 3, 2021 at 7:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of Houston and Irma regarding a subject, later identified as Javier Holguin, 34, who had struck a subject with a brick and threatened another victim.
Officers contacted Holguin and he refused repeated commands to comply and attempts by officers to de-escalate the situation. Holguin threatened officers with the brick and less-lethal munitions were deployed, striking the suspect.
The suspect threw the brick at an officer, just missing the officer and striking and damaging his patrol vehicle. Less-lethal munitions and a Taser were deployed, both ineffective. A police canine was then utilized, and after a violent struggle with officers, Holguin was taken into custody.
Holguin was transported by ambulance to KHMC for treatment for injuries. The suspect will be booked at the Tulare County Pretrial Facility for charges of 245 PC, 69 PC, 422 PC, and 594 PC, once he gets medically cleared from the hospital. No officers were injured. The police K9 received a minor injury and was treated by a local veterinarian.”
