K-9 Olive assists in arrest of gun-toting gang member

Today, Detectives with MADCAT and the Property Crimes Unit, were assisted by the SWAT Team with a search warrant at a residence in the city of Salinas.

Detectives have been investigating a known gang member, 35-year-old Mario Martinez of King City.

With the assistance of K9 “Olive”, detectives located multiple firearms. Two of the firearms were found to be “Ghost guns” and modified to be fully automatic.

Martinez was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on various weapons and child endangerment related charges.

Since Olive joined us….she’s been busy! She’s located over 20 Illegally possessed firearms in the past month!!!”
