Santa Rosa PD: Traffic stop leads to discovery of loaded gun, high-capacity magazine

“Sacramento man arrested after traffic stop uncovers a loaded firearm and high-capacity magazine.
At approximately 11:00 pm on Saturday, 8/14/21, a Santa Rosa Police Department officer patrolling the area of College Avenue and Highway 101 observed a driver commit a vehicle code violation. He initiated a traffic stop and upon the driver lowering the window, the officer was immediately greeted by the smell of freshly burnt marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a .45 caliber handgun concealed in a bag on the driver’s side floorboard. The gun was fully loaded with an 11-round magazine and one round in the chamber. A high-capacity magazine loaded with 27 rounds of ammunition was located in a backpack in the back seat of the car.
Isaiah Saunders, a 22-year-old Sacramento resident, was arrested booked into jail for the following charges:
25850(a) PC – Felony possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle
25400(a)(1) – Felony possession of a concealed firearm”
