“On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 10:19pm, Central Officers responded to the Motel 6 located at 4080 N. Blackstone regarding a victim of a shooting.
The caller indicated that the victim was the security guard for the motel. Officers arrived and located a 24-year-old male on the second-floor landing.
He was unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and EMS performed CPR on the victim but despite their efforts, he was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics. We are not releasing the victim’s name until notifications to the family can be made.
The victim was employed by a local security company, as an unarmed security guard, and was working in the course of his employment.
Investigators are working to identify potential witnesses from the motel. We are asking for the community’s help and encourage anyone who has information to please contact the Fresno Police Department.
The vicitm was later identified as Phillip Frusetta.
