Juvenile Arrested for a Stabbing at a Saturday Night House Party

SAN RAFAEL — A party at a private residence got out of hand on a Saturday night. A fight started and one partygoer was stabbed multiple times, which culminated in the arrest of a 17- year-old juvenile.

A caller reported a stabbing occurred August 14 shortly before 10 p.m. Officers were dispatched to investigate what happened at the party on the 300 block of Prospect Drive.

Responding officers were flagged down near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Laurel Place. They located the victim and learned he had been placed inside a vehicle and driven away from the house party.

The victim was holding a T-shirt around his neck to stop bleeding from a 5-inch laceration. He also had two lacerations on the back of his left arm. He was given first aid before being transported to a hospital for additional medical treatment.

Investigators learned a fight started a few minutes after the victim arrived at the party. It was during the ensuing commotion that the victim was repeatedly stabbed.

Detectives questioned numerous persons, collected physical evidence, and obtained video evidence. This included obtaining a search warrant for a residence two blocks away from where the stabbing occurred.

Based on the evidence gathered, detectives determined they had probable cause to arrest a juvenile male. The suspect was detained in the vicinity of Mission and Tamalpais avenues, and he was transported to the police station.

The suspect who lives in San Rafael was questioned and subsequently arrested on the morning of August 18. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon PC 245(A)(1).
