“On Friday, August 20th, 2021, at 8:17 P.M., Officers were dispatched to a report of a subject trying to lure a juvenile girl into his van in the area of the 900 block Old Alturas Rd.
Officers arrived and located the described vehicle and suspect in the area. The investigation revealed Donald Platner, 59 years of Shingletown, drove up to a juvenile female and demanded she get in his van.
She refused, and fled to a nearby group of friends. Platner ultimately attempted to recontact her by driving to the group of friends where they confronted him. Platner exited his vehicle and challenged the juveniles to a fight.
Several bystanders got involved causing Platner to leave and the Police were contacted. Platner was positively identified by the juvenile victims and placed under arrest by the Redding Police Department.
Platner was found to be a sex registrant and was booked at the Shasta County Jail for attempted kidnapping, a sex registrant violation, challenging the juveniles to fight, and willful child endangerment.”
