Homicide Investigation at San Diego Central Jail – Breaking-News’ Results Are In

SAN DIEGO – It began on August 22nd at the San Diego Central Jail on 1173 Front Street. At approximately 7:10 PM, San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies encountered an unresponsive inmate in his cell.
Suffering from traumatic injuries, the man was immediately given life-saving measures by Deputies and Medical Staff. Fire Department personnel arrived shortly thereafter, to continue performing life-saving treatment.
“Unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased at the facility,” announced Lieutenant Thomas Seiver of San Diego County Sheriff’s Homicide unit. “The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.”
Investigators noted that the deceased man was housed in the cell with another inmate. Steven Young (32) was identified as the suspect in the murder of the deceased individual. “Young was arrested and re-booked into San Diego Central Jail for one count of 187(a) PC – Murder,” said Lt. Seiver. Known by the investigators, the identity of the deceased man was withheld pending his family’s notification.
As a result, the Medical Examiner’s Office scheduled the anonymous man’s autopsy for 08/24/2021.
BREAKING NEWS: Results of the homicide investigation’s autopsy were released at 7:19 PM on August 24th – the Medical Examiner’s autopsy-results list the preliminary cause of death as strangulation. Tragically, the manner of death is homicide.
The ongoing search to locate the slain inmate’s next of kin continues by the Medical Examiner’s Office and Homicide Detectives. His name will remain withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
