“On Sunday August 8, 2021 at 5:36 AM, Santa Rosa Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of Lance Drive, Santa Rosa regarding a shooting. The victim reported being shot at by a subject later identified as 35 year old Santa Rosa resident Taylor Young. Young and the victim are known to one another.
The victim and a friend were parked in a vehicle on Lance Dr. The suspect appeared at the victim’s front passenger door. The victim opened the door and the door struck Young in the face. After being struck by the door, Young removed a semiautomatic handgun from his pocket and pointed it at the victim. Luckily, the victim (who was still seated) moved because Young fired at least one round into the vehicle. The bullet narrowly missed the victim and struck the front passenger window and back of the victim’s seat. The victim and his friend fled in their vehicle. Neither was physically injured.
As officers were conducting an investigation, Young called the police and said he did possess a handgun but declined meeting with officers. Officers located Young on the 1200 block of W College Ave. A 9mm Glock handgun was located in the vehicle along with suspected narcotics.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Investigations Team responded and took over the investigation.
Taylor was booked at the Main Adult Detention Facility for Attempted Murder.”
