On Thursday, August 26, 2021, at approximately 9:00 p.m., deputies from the Wasco City Substation conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Broadway Avenue and 6th Street. The driver was identified as Alfonso Sanchez, a 36-year-old male from Arvin. 22-year-old Casandra Valle of Arvin and a 3-year-old were passengers in the vehicle.
Deputies determined Sanchez was under the influence of a controlled substance. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a loaded handgun, parts to manufacture an illegal firearm, a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, and drug sales paraphernalia.
Deputies served a search warrant at Sanchez and Valle’s residence in the 1500 block of Bear Mountain Boulevard in Arvin. During the search, deputies located additional suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for being under the influence of a controlled substance, several felony firearms charges, several drug sales charges, conspiracy, misdemeanor child endangerment, and failing to stop for a crosswalk. Valle was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for several felony firearms charges, several felony drug sales charges, conspiracy, and misdemeanor child endangerment.
