Merced – On August 27th at approximately 09:39 PM, Merced Police Department officers arrested two suspects for the possession of a controlled substance for sale.
Merced Police Officer Saldivar observed a suspicious vehicle in the unit block alleyway of East 11th St. Several subjects had been walking up to the car to speak with the occupants. Officer Saldivar contacted the occupants of the vehicle and identified them as Xochitl Venegas (42) and Javier Vega (34).
Vega was found to have an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. A search of the vehicle was conducted and over a pound and a half of methamphetamine were located. Also located was over $1800 in cash, a digital scale, and packaging material.

Vega and Venegas were arrested on multiple drug charges.
