Assault with a Deadly Weapon & Robbery Arrest

“Merced – Merced Police officers arrested Francisco Zagal (31) for assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.

At 5:45 PM, officers responded to the Buy & Bye Market at 1108 G Street for a knife assault that just occurred.

The victim was attacked by two males after he exited the store and returned to his vehicle. One of the attackers used a knife and cut the victim on his hand. The suspects stole the victim’s truck keys after the assault.

Officers reviewed the surveillance footage and identified Francisco Zagal (31) as one of the attackers. Zagal was located a few hours later and arrested. He was booked into custody at the Merced County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.

This case is still under investigation and the second suspect is at large.”
