Juveniles Arrested near High School for Attempted Murder of a Student
FREMONT — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with an attempted murder of a high school student. Both suspects were booked into Alameda County Juvenile Hall.
The 15-year-old victim who attends John F. Kennedy High School phoned police on September 21 at 12:50 p.m. He reported being cut in his neck, according to a statement released by the Fremont Police Department.
This attack occurred two blocks away from the school located on Blacow Road. The victim told police that his attacker was still in the vicinity.
School resource officers on duty located the victim across the street from the school in less than one minute. The wounded student was transported to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
Meanwhile, the suspect was observed walking towards the high school, where he is also a student. Therefore, police issued a shelter-in-place order at 12:54 p.m. for students and staff inside the school.
Authorities obtained images recorded by surveillance cameras in the area. Working with school administrators, police identified the primary suspect, a 16-year-old male juvenile.
The 16-year-old juvenile believed responsible for this violent assault was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A second suspect who attends high school in a neighboring community was alsotaken into custody. This 17-year-old male was arrested for being an accessory and brandishing a weapon.
