Armed Subject Arrested with Controlled Substances

Originally published as a City of Chico press release –

“On September 21, 2021, at about 12:30 a.m., A Chico Police Officer was on patrol in the area of Kohl’s department store, 1505 Springfield Drive. The officer spotted an occupied vehicle stopped in the parking lot. There were no open businesses in the area, so the officer spoke with the driver, Jacoby Gilbert (46 years old).

The officer had a casual conversation with Gilbert. During the conversation Gilbert admitted to having a firearm in his vehicle. The officer searched the car and located a Glock handgun, 3 loaded magazines, heroin, methamphetamine and Xanax pills.

Gilbert was arrested for violations of sections 29800(a)(1) PC- Addict in Possession of a Firearm, 11377(a) H&S- Possession of Methamphetamine, and 11350(a) H&S, Possession of Heroin.”
