Gang member arrested for attempted murder in Hollister shooting

Hollister – On the afternoon of September 21 a shots fired call came in to the Hollister Police Department in the area of the 1200 block of Fourth Street.
The driver of one car, 33-year-old Cesar Montes-Gonzales, shot into another car at a 30-year-old male as they were stopped at an intersection.
Both vehicles drove away. The victim arrived at Hazel Hawkins Hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Surveillance camera video and witnesses helped describe the shooter and his vehicle.
The suspect wa sknown to detectives, who issued a “bo on the lookout” for him.
During the night the suspecct’s vehicle was located and a surveillance of the areaa began in the 400 block of Madrone Drive.
The next morning detetctives spotted the suspect, who swarmed in to take Gonzalez into custody. Instead, he returned inside the house, where officers chased him and took him into custody.
With a search warrant, officers found evidence connecting the suspect to the shooting, including the gun used in the incident.
Gonzalez’ charges include attempted murder, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, gang member in possession of a loaded firearm and parole violation.
He is “currently on early release parole.”
