“Around 1 am on Sunday morning, our deputies responded to a burglary alarm at a home in Carmel Valley. Three deputies arrived in the area within three minutes of the call. As they were arriving, one deputy saw a car leaving the area so he turned around and began following the car towards Highway 1.
The other deputies went to the house discovered a window had been broken out and the home had been burglarized. The deputy who had been following the car stopped the vehicle.
The driver, Allen Cardoso of San Joaquin, and the passenger, Moche Lopez of Coalinga, said they were “just driving around.” That didn’t make much sense to the deputy and they couldn’t explain what they had been doing earlier in the day. Mr. Cardoso’s driver’s license was suspended and Mr. Lopez had a $50,000 warrant for Burglary in Contra Costa County.
A crowbar, face masks, and a woman’s purse containing a large quantity of loose jewelry was located together in their car. The victims of the burglary identified the purse and jewelry as their stolen property.
Cardoso and Lopez were arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail for Burglary and other charges.”
