Juvenile arrested after firing gunshots, damaging residential property
A juvenile suspect has been arrested in connection with several gunshots being fired in a residential area. No one was harmed as a result of the gunshots, but police believe this is not a random incident.
At about 4 p.m. on September 22nd, Costa Mesa police received calls reporting the sound of gunshots being fired in the 2200 block of Pacific Avenue. One witness described the appearance of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving at the time of the incident.
Officers investigating the scene found ample evidence of the shots fired, including bullet shell casings in the street, bullet holes in a nearby vehicle, and a bullet stuck in the wall of a residence.
“Officers identified the sole suspect, who they are familiar with, and responded to his residence where the suspect and vehicle were located,” according to the release. “The suspect was arrested and a handgun was recovered.”
He was arrested and booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall. “The arrestee is not an adult and due to his age, his name and identifying information will not be released.”
