BRENTWOOD — Police officers located and arrested an armed man found sitting inside a car, with a woman in the driver’s seat and children in the backseat. The man is a convicted felon who is not allowed to possess a firearm.
Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of a man with a gun, near the intersection of Brentwood Boulevard and Applewood Court. This happened on September 19.
A caller reported seeing him seated in the passenger seat and holding a gun. The caller also saw the driver and children with him. Responding officers detained the man and woman on the 7400 block of Brentwood Boulevard.
While investigating the incident, officers found a loaded 9 mm pistol near the passenger seat, where the man was sitting. Moreover, the serial number of the weapon had been removed.
The suspect identified as Nicholas Lee-Jackson, a resident of Oakland, was also found in possession of more than 27 grams of narcotics.
Lee-Jackson was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, and the woman who was with him was released at the scene. As for the children who were unharmed, a guardian picked them up.
Lee-Jackson was transported and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. At this point, he faces charges for felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance for sale. He is also accused of child endangerment, among other charges.
In a prepared statement Brentwood police said. “These officers undoubtedly prevented a serious crime from occurring in our city or elsewhere.”
