“It seems that a large portion of security camera notifications in the middle of the night turn out to be cats or racoons walking in the driveway.
Not today. On 9/27/21 at approximately 5:05 am, when everyone should be sleeping, Dispatch received a call of a subject possibly burglarizing Sierra Automatic Transmission (173 East Ave, Chico).
The employee observed a subject inside of the business selecting items on the business security camera. Officers quickly arrived on scene and set up a perimeter.
The suspect became aware of Officers presence. When Officers attempted to gain compliance and have him exit the business, he jumped a fence and began to flee westbound. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit. The suspect jumped a second fence in the 2500 block of Esplanade.
During a search of the area, the suspect was located in the laundry room of an apartment complex. He was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as David Santos (34 years old). Santos has an extensive history of burglaries. All stolen property was located and returned to the business. Santos was arrested on suspicion of Burglary (459 Penal Code) and Resisting/Delaying a Peace Officer (148 Penal Code). He was transported to Butte County Jail.”
