“On September 24, 2021, around 2:51 pm, Novato Police Department Dispatchers received several calls about a driver who may be impaired, driving with a flat tire near Olive School. Officers checked the area but did not find the vehicle. Another caller reported seeing the vehicle driving on Grant Ave. with one flat tire and driving on a rim.
Officers contacted the driver, a 26-year-old Petaluma resident near Railroad and Grant Ave. The driver was evaluated and determined not to be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded, non-serialized, semi-automatic pistol near the driver’s seat.
The driver was arrested for possession of a loaded and concealed firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a firearm within 1000 feet of the school, as well as driving on a suspended license and violating terms of his probation. The driver was booked into Marin County Jail for the listed charges.
We are grateful for our community members calling in concerns of unsafe driving about this vehicle.
We encourage community members to call 911 when they see unsafe driving or something suspicious in our neighborhoods.
Together, let’s keep Novato safe!”
