October 6, 2021 – Santa Barbara County, Ca.
As if the life of a high school-age teenager is confusing and complicated enough, imagine waking up one fine morning and checking your smartphone on the way to class only to find images of the genitalia of one of your teachers in your hand.
According to Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman Lt. Shawn Hill, that’s precisely the circumstances leading to the arrest of 45-year-old Goleta resident Jarrod M. Bradley on the morning of October 1st.
It was the day prior, September 30th, when SBPD officers were informed by an underage male student at San Marcos High School that “he had been communicating with a person on a location-based social networking app” and had received multiple messages of “a sexting nature” from a specific male adult.
The ensuing investigation and the male student’s description of the suspect lead to the identification of Bradley, currently employed by the Goleta Valley School District as an instructor of Advanced Placement Physics and Marketing, as well as coach of the school’s boys tennis team.
Little time was wasted in following up, and SBPD detectives, working in collaboration with detectives of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department, arrived on the San Marcos campus on Friday morning, made contact with Bradley, and summarily took him into custody.
Bradley was transported to Santa Barbara County Jail, where he was booked on charges of distributing harmful materials to a minor and communicating with a minor with criminal intent.
