“On Saturday, October 2nd, 2021, at 10:55 P.M., Redding Police responded to the Shasta Regional Medical Center in regards to male brought into the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his head. Officers made contact with the victim, 54-year-old Sanderson Miller of Redding, who was conscious and able to tell officers what happened.
Miller told officers that the evenings events began around 9:44 P.M., when a silver Toyota Tacoma drove onto his lawn and caused damage on the 700 block of Locust Street. Miller recognized the vehicle as belonging to 32-year-old Steven Hall of Redding. Miller and Hall were involved in an ongoing dispute over property.
Approximately one hour later, Miller was approached by Hall while standing in his front yard. Hall was armed with a handgun and confronted him about property he alleged was stolen. Miller and Hall had a physical altercation in front of the house which ultimately resulted in Hall shooting Miller. Hall then fled from the residence, leaving Miller wounded and laying on the ground in his front yard. Miller was rushed to the hospital by an acquaintance and is currently in stable condition.
The Redding Police Detective Division responded to assume the investigation and identified Hall as living on the 3600 block of Alma Avenue in Redding. On Sunday, October 3rd, 2021, at approximately 6:00 A.M., the Redding Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team surrounded Hall’s residence and took him into custody without incident.
Detectives served a search warrant on Hall’s residence and located what is believed to be the handgun used during this crime. Hall was questioned by Detective Stenderup and provided a confession to the crime and was later booked into the Shasta County Jail for attempted murder.”
