“On Friday afternoon, Deputy Hammell was patrolling the area of Buchanan Road near Mira Monte Road in Tuolumne. Deputy Hammell spotted a man underneath a vehicle and heard a power tool being operated.
As Deputy Hammell got out of his vehicle, a woman in a nearby pickup truck yelled out to the man under the car. The man, 31-year-old Sean Foster of Jamestown, tried to jump into the truck but the deputy stopped him.
Foster, who was wanted on a felony warrant, ran off. Deputy Hammell deployed his taser after the man ignored several commands to stop. Foster was apprehended. He had an ounce of methamphetamine and more than $650. He was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for possession of drugs for sale, resisting arrest, and his two felony warrants.
Meantime, the driver of the pickup truck, 19-year-old Abigail Rodgers of Sonora, drove off. Responding deputies caught up to Rodgers on Tuolumne Road where they tried to stop her.
Rodgers led deputies on a chase that reached speeds of 90 mph. Sonora area CHP ended the chase on Mono Way and Sanguinetti Road in Sonora. Turns out, the pickup truck was stolen. There were also three ounces of meth in the vehicle. Rodgers was booked into County Jail on charges related to the pursuit and possession of the stolen vehicle.
