Kings County: Man on probation accused of driving under the influence of controlled substance
A Kings County man who is currently on probation was recently arrested after being caught allegedly driving while under the influence of a narcotic, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Just before 1 AM on Thursday, October 28, a deputy on patrol pulled a vehicle over in the area of Jersey Avenue and State Route 41 for a vehicle code violation.
The deputy found that the driver, identified as Alberto Macias, is an active gang member currently on probation in connection to the transportation of narcotics. Per the terms of his probation, the deputy searched Macias’s vehicle and reportedly discovered drug paraphernalia.
Macias himself also displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance, the Sheriff’s Office said.
One of Macias’s two passengers, identified as Martha Sanchez, was also determined to possibly be under the influence of a controlled substance. A loaded FMK 9mm handgun with the serial number filed off was reportedly found in her purse.
Both Macias and Sanchez were both arrested and remain in custody.
Macias’s other passenger, Salvador Macias, was arrested and booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, but later released.
