“Yesterday afternoon Officers responded to the railroad tracks near Bellevue for the report of a 10-year-old child who had been robbed of their bicycle.
Through their investigation, officers learned that the juvenile victim was riding her bike home from school, with two other juveniles, when they were approached by a male suspect along The Santa Cruz Coastal Trail. The suspect blocked the path of the juveniles, demanded that one of them relinquish their bicycle, and then fled on the stolen bike.
The victims were uninjured and reunited with their parents. An immediate search was conducted; however, officers were unable to locate the suspect and, the case was turned over to the Investigations Division, where immediate follow-up and victim services were provided.
Earlier today (November 9, 2021), an on-duty Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation worker, who had previously seen a photo of the stolen bicycle on social media, spotted a subject with the stolen bike under the Soquel Av Bridge.
Officers responded and arrested the subject who was in possession of the victim’s stolen bike. This subject, identified as Jordan Howard, later confessed to the robbery and was booked into the county jail.”
