“Homicide Detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office identified Mercedez Perez (15) of Sacramento County as the suspect in the July 19, 2021 shooting death of Omari Lowery (15).
On November 24, 2021, Sacramento Sheriff’s Detectives served an arrest warrant on Perez at a home in Idaho where she was detained and arrested after a foot pursuit. No suspects are outstanding in this case. Perez is being held without bail on three felony counts including murder and robbery. There is no further information at this time.
PREVIOUSLY – At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call from a subject near the 3900 block of Onawa Court in Sacramento County stating they heard gunshots and could see a subject on the ground.
Upon arrival, deputies located one juvenile male who sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from Sacramento Metro Fire.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence. No further information or suspect information is available at this time.”
