Berkeley police have announced the arrest of an Oakland man who allegedly approached and harassed teen girls on at least three separate occasions.
Police say that a 32-year-old Oakland man, who is currently on parole, had approached teen girls on three separate occasions –September 29th and December 6th. On both occasions, the victims managed to escape.
A third victim then came forward on December 7th, having read coverage of the other two incidents in a local newspaper.
Police say that, in the first two cases, the suspect had identified himself as a police officer, attempted to block the victim’s path, and demanded a hug. The September incident reportedly took place on the 1300 block of Gilman Street, and the December incident in the area of Channing Avenue and McGee Way.
The suspect was arrested on December 8 and booked on suspicion of communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sex act, annoying or molesting a child whilst having a prior offense, and parole violation.
