“In a 10-day period, Watsonville Police Detectives arrested three suspects accused of committing sex crimes against children.
The most recent arrest occurred about 24 hours ago when detectives traveled to Salinas to arrest Daniel Alanis. The 39-year-old is accused of committing lewd and lascivious acts against a child under 14. He has been booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
On Wednesday, Armando Venegas, 26, was taken into custody for lewd and lascivious acts against a child under 14. Detectives were able to track down the suspect in Capitola, arrest him, and then transport him to the Santa Cruz County Jail.
Lastly, a registered sex offender, who had been released from jail on a pending sexual battery case, was arrested for exposing himself to a teen girl. An arrest warrant was issued for 58-year-old Arthur Decaney following the November 18 incident. Decaney was arrested by officers five days later.
