“At approximately 8:16 a.m. on Tuesday December 14, 2021, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 7300 block of Rutherford Way in Sacramento County to assist Metro Fire on a medical call. The caller stated he went to his sister-in-law’s residence looking for his wife after she did not return home from a visit. Upon his arrival to the home, he found his wife unresponsive inside.
Deputies responded to the residence and found an adult female victim with extensive physical trauma and obviously deceased. Deputies determined the suspect to be the victim’s sister, who had fled the scene by vehicle prior to their arrival; a short time later, the suspect and her vehicle were located near the intersection of Jackson Street and Madison Avenue in North Highlands where she was detained without incident.
Deputies arrested Sandra Lee Marquette (59) of North Highlands on a single felony count of murder. She is being held without bail in the Sacramento County Main Jail. Sheriff Homicide detectives do not believe there are outstanding suspects.
